10 Things You Don't Know...

The other day, Mandy tagged me in a post sharing little-known facts about herself, and I've been tagged a few times for similar things in the past, so I thought it was about time that I participated. Here are a few things you might not know about me.

01. My friend and I performed Wayne's World (I played Garth) in its entirety for our high school English class, including lip-synching dramatically to all of "Bohemian Rhapsody" while sitting in chairs pretending to be riding in the car. There's a tape of it somewhere that I would love to find.

02. When I was born, my hips hadn't finished forming, so as a baby I had to wear braces that made my legs go out to the sides. I even learned to walk in them!

03. Alien movies are the scariest kind of movie to me... I can't even watch E.T. in the dark by myself.

04. I am horrified by spiders and most insects, including butterflies. I can't kill them though.

05. In junior high, I was an extra in The Rocky and Bullwinkle Movie and you can barely see me onscreen in a really hideous costume.

06. I was obsessed with orca whales for most of my childhood. I had orca bed sheets, t-shirts, figurines, stuffed animals, posters... basically anything that had an orca on it. I wanted to be a marine biologist and Sea World was my favorite place ever.

07. People are often surprised when I tell them I'm in my late twenties. A few years ago I helped chaperone a field trip with a junior high class Jose worked with, and the tour bus guide asked me if I was in seventh or eighth grade. When I answer the door for salespeople, they often ask if my parents are home.

08. I've had at least one pet cat for pretty much my whole life, and in the past I've had fish, mice, and a rabbit. I've never owned a dog, and I'm not sure if I'd want to. Maybe a small one.

09. I don't own sandals. I don't even remember the last time I had a pair of them; I was probably a little kid.

10. My first job was at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Disneyland. The first question I was asked on my first day of work was "Do you work here?" as I was walking by in a pirate costume and name tag.

Hopefully I haven't scared anyone away! I won't specifically tag anyone but if you create a list of your own, I'd love to see it so be sure to share in the comments!

  1. I had a similar infatuation with dolphins as you did with orcas. And an entire Wayne's World performance!? You are the best xD

  2. I love the bit about Wayne's World. My sister and I are planning on being Wayne and Garth for Halloween this year :)

  3. Just change orca whales to manatees and that was my childhood. Except that I didn't have quite as much stuff because manatees are a pretty weird animal to put on bed sheets.

  5. I would DIE to see that Wayne's World video. My friend and I went as Wayne and Garth for Halloween a few years ago! http://instagram.com/p/RS6tckCElf/ it was VERY last minute but I thought my friend made an awesome Garth! I'm sure you did too :)

  6. #7 - I'm in my early twenties, but I can sympathize with this one the most! People constantly ask if I'm still in High School. No; I'm working, married, and expecting a baby. =| It's nice, though! =P

  7. How awesome that your first job was at the Pirates ride! Rad! I was obsessed with whales too. My favorite were the humpback though.. and then I eventually made my way to my favorite animal now, the manatee. Lastly, I always get asked more than once for my age. No one believes me. Ever. I hate the asking for parents when they come to MY house. grrr.

  8. Wayne's World is the BOMB! My best friend and I came second in the huge, cult local Halloween fancy dress competition a couple of years ago dressed as Wayne and Garth. I was Garth too!

Pirates of the Caribbean was my favourite ride at Disney! We went on it 8 times during one holiday haha!

  9. I am mega impressed with your first fact. I, too, am a Wayne's World fan. I still have a copy of it on VHS somewhere.
And I am constantly asked if I'm a freshman in college or even in high school (never as young as middle school though, wow!). I love learning facts about bloggers, so thanks for sharing. :)

  15. Wow, this was such an insightful tag, Danielle! I love all the quirky stories you had here. Speaking of quirks, I, too, love cats. I currently have two cats. And, you and I share the baby face thing. I have a small voice, too, which makes matters worse. I don't sound my age.

  19. #1 pretty much rocks my world. My BFF and I did a really good Wayne's World for halloween, but nothing compares to that. I was obsessed with Ghost World when it came out, but girl, you take it to a whole new level.
